NIU Esports is now part of the Guardians Mental Health packet

If you’ve been following our NIU Esports blog lately you may have noticed a trend. We’re interested in healthy gaming. I mean, really, really interested in healthy gaming.

There’s a reason for that! While we love the competitive challenge of esports, we’ve noticed that it can also take a toll on mental health. It can be so tempting to bury yourself in your game to the exclusion of all else. An off day can start a spiral of negative self-talk. But it doesn’t have to be this way! There are tried and true practices to maintain a level head and a positive outlook.

You know who else is interested in mental health and healthy gaming? Like really, really interested? The team over at Guardians Mental Health. Guardians MH is a 501c3 nonprofit mental health organization on spreading mental health awareness and meaningful resources throughout the gaming space. They are not a replacement for dedicated professional help. But they do provide first step support with gathering resources, peer support and where to find a mental health professional near you.

As part of their outreach, Guardians MH provides mental health resource kits tailored to gamers. And NIU Esports is thrilled that we are now part of the Guardian MH packet – with our NIU Esports Pre-game Tips to Get Ready for Your Best Match and Dr. Levi’s Daily Affirmations.
